Intro
1. Theme Verse: Gal. 4:4
2. Today’s theme: “born under the Law”
3. What was the law? (think a little on this one, try answering from a Jewish perspective)

Jesus Fulfilling the Law
1. Read Matthew 5:17-20 – what does Jesus mean by “fulfill the law”? What else stands out to you from this reading?
2. Scan over the rest of Matt. 5, how many times does Jesus say, “you’ve heard it said, but I say…”?
3. Jesus taught the heart and intent behind the law. How did he challenge the religious leaders and their interpretation of the law?

Life Circumstances
1. What does it mean that Jesus lived under the law? How did this impact his life and upbringing?
2. Jesus ministered under the law. How does this influence what He taught and how He presented it? How does that in turn impact how we understand Jesus?
3. How does living in the twenty-first century influence who we are and what we do?
4. In what ways has the world changed since the time that Jesus lived on this earth?

Bloom Where You’re planted
1. Have you heard the statement, “bloom where you’re planted”? What do you think that means? Can you think of any examples where you’ve seen this lived out?
2. How did Jesus bloom where He was planted? Did He take the circumstances He lived in and make it a better place? How so?
3. What does “bloom where you’re planted” mean to you at this current stage in your life?
