Caring and Sharing began in 1989 out of compassion for those who are in need for the basic items of everyday life. Some of the staples given free of charge are food, clothing, furniture, household goods, hygiene products, diapers, and baby formula.
Starting with a small facility, a meager budget, and a lot of faith, these efforts were blessed by God. As the work grew, it became clear that a larger facility was needed to serve more people so it was relocated to 1303 Mobberly Avenue, Longview, Texas.
1,000 plus families are served every month by over 60 volunteers, making the difference in the lives of thousands of people in Longview and the surrounding areas of Hallsville, White Oak, and Gladewater.
Many of the volunteers are individuals who have received assistance from Caring and Sharing and want to pass the kindness on to others by volunteering!
Caring and Sharing is a non-profit-corporation, supported by the Pine Tree Church of Christ and the Alpine Church of Christ. Other financial contributors are the Hallsville Church of Christ, Cotton St. Church of Christ, and individuals who have a love for the less fortunate. It is because of the generosity of both corporate and individual donors that items are available.
It is the mission of the Caring and Sharing ministry to meet the needs of people regardless of their ethnic background or religious belief. Our commitment is to help people who are experiencing difficult times while upholding their dignity. We intend to be a Good Samaritan in the community, and strive to give God the glory in all we do!
